Here are some things I’d like to share with you that will be quite useful to you as an article writer.
1. Use keyword variation by adding semantically related words.
Keywords that are appropriate and are spread properly throughout your article (there is really no rule of thumb, I use the exact keyword once in every paragraph or two) you submit help you in reaching your target audience and increase relevant traffic to your site. However, using the exact same keywords again and again in your article can get you in trouble with Google. Google sees excessive repetition of keywords as negatively manipulative. Instead repeating your keywords excessively in your article (which helped 10 years ago), the modern approach is to use keyword variation by utilising semantically related words.
How can I get semantically related words without being a human dictionary or a genius in english language?
Just make use of the tilde “~” character and the google search engine. If your keyword is “dog food”, search for “~dog” (as main keyword in your keyphrase) and “~dog food” at google. All words that are highlighted in search results are semantically related to your keywords, like “pet food”, “breed”, “dog breed”, “puppies”. For a highly targeted quality article, make sure that these semantically related words appear in your article as well.
2. Quality content matters when writing.
Resist the urge to make mediocre articles just for the sake of being able to produce them in large numbers. Quantity alone will not get you the back links that you desire since readers will not patronize your articles if your works afford no appeal and substantiality. Quality content in your article submissions go hand in hand with quantity for achieving your desired number of back links. Article marketing aims to generate and extensively distribute informative, useful content on a niche subject matter with the potential to hold its significance despite the passage of time.
Quality articles that have that sense of timeless importance can build more back links as time passes by. This is because when publishers read such articles, they re-publish them in other websites, which is why it is essential that you write top quality articles. Maximize the benefits you can get from writing articles by maintaining a good standard quality.
3. Re-purpose your content.
If you already have a website, a PDF, a blog or a compilation of past submitted articles, you have the option to re-purpose any of them into an e-book. Use that e-book as resource box bait or as a gift package you give to people who subscribe to your email list. This is a great way to multi-task your content which actually conserves your time and effort.
4. Put up an email list by linking to a squeeze page from your resource box.
A squeeze page allows you to put up a handy sign up box for a newsletter, a helpful report, an e-book, etc. as gifts. The reader can sign up from there to be on your email list to receive the free gift’s. So link a squeeze page now to build a decent mailing list. You may also decide to put link back to your main site to help in the site’s SEO.
A resource box should use a single link. If you plan to have two pages to link to (e.g. the main site and the squeeze page), make sure they point to the same domain, pointing to different sites in the resource box may easily confuse your readers.
5. Consistency is key.
The biggest question is “How often should I submit to article directories? Is 1 article ok? Should I submit 100 articles daily and avoid sleeping and eating?”. The answer really depends on your goals and time you are willing to spend on it. It does’nt matter whether you submit 1 or 100 articles a specific period, as long as you are consistently submitting articles in this specified period. All efforts will be in vain in an article marketing campaign if you are not consistent. Constancy of effort pays off in the long run so an average number would be to submit at least 2-8 articles monthly, widen your knowledge of article directories and other helpful entities on the net, and remain consistent with the quality of your article content. Consistency is key.
