If you are looking for high search engine rankings and targeted traffic to your website, optimizing your web content is a very important task. Hence, care must be taken in writing and composing your content.

While writing and producing web content may sound easy, there are some things you must remember in order to avoid the most common mistakes committed by webmasters. Here are some pointers that you should consider:

1. Structure and categorize your web pages. You just don’t put your web pages on your site and let your visitors pull find the information they need by themselves. Categorizing your web pages will help you in organizing your website. Your web users will have an easy reference to your site as well.

2. Create a traffic keyword tree. Build your first level of pages on your main high traffic keywords. From there, build your second level of pages with second level keywords and so on. For example, you create a page optimized for “dogs”, from this page, link to a page you optimized for “dog food”. From this page, link to a page optimized for “organic dog food”.

3. Make use of phrases instead of single words. Single words are so generic; hence, the most competitive in keyword search. By using phrases, you are lessening the competition. Your site will have a chance of being on the top whenever web users search an item.

4. Use keywords in your content that are important. This means that your keywords must be relevant and used by the users very often. Your keyword must be relevant to the whole content of your site.

5. Be specific and descriptive in your content. This means you have to add adjectives to your words so that readers can have a better grasp of your words or content. It would help users to see if your contents are more applicable to them. Likewise, users are sometimes specific in their needs so that the search engine can find relevance from your content.

6. Use keywords in your links’ anchor text. This way users can easily see what the link is all about. This will help the search engines and the web users to determine whether your site is relevant to your site.

7. Of course, you have to use the keywords in the title headings. Make sure that your title heading suits your content. This way, the search engine and the your visitors can see what the content on each page is related to.

8. Don’t overstuff your content with keywords. This refers to the density of the keyword on your page. An overstuffed site is not only redundant; it is also annoying to users. A keyword density of 3-5 percent is already more than enough.
