Five Tips To Attract More Readers For Your Blog

January 28th, 2010

The goal of effective bogging is to keep your current subscribers coming back to you as well as attract new readers who will subscribe to your blog. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done, given the responsibility of having to frequently update your blog with interesting and moving posts to keep your followers commenting and coming back for more. Popular blog posts are probably the biggest reason why a blog wins a loyal following, which is why bloggers who are in the know exert an effort to regularly update their blogs with posts that are worth commenting on. Therefore, it is alright to assume that the more frequently a blogger updates his/her blog, the more viewers will submit their comments expressing their reactions and views to each blog post.

If that is true, how can bloggers keep up with the task of regularly updating their blogs with fresh, attention-drawing, and provocative blog posts?

The following are a set of fool-proof suggestions to help you generate more new ideas or at least set you in the right direction towards writing new blog entries.

1. Give Tips to Your Readers

People will always look for ways to make their jobs easier so giving the answers to those kinds of queries through great tips will never lose popularity. A blog post that concentrates on giving a brief yet concise list of tips will draw readers who are looking for helpful hints. Take advantage of this and you will soon have a loyal following of readers who want quick tips that are interesting yet very practical. Make your wordings short, by the way, since people dislike having to waste time on fluff and fillers.

2. “How-to” Blog Posts

Be acquainted on how to write “how-to” blog entries that will tell a reader the steps to take to do something specific. Besides drawing more readers, such posts will establish your credibility as an authority on a certain topic. Instructional blog posts are undoubtedly well sought after so try making some in your next spate of articles. But also remember that you should only make “how-to” content that is directly related to your blog’s main theme, otherwise your efforts will be rendered pointless.

3. Comments Are Not Just Opinions

Pay attention to the substantial comments that are left by your readers. Take direction from these. Some comments will contain questions that need answering or elaboration. You can do the answering in your next blog posts. In this way, comments left by subscribers and other viewers can serve as ideas for new entries.

4. Review Products Related to Your Blog’s Theme

Contribute helpful information on a certain product or service that is linked to your blog’s main topic. This catches the eye of consumers who will probably appreciate pointing them in the right direction.

5. Be a Source of Reference

Last but not the least, relate some of your experiences or references which are relevant to your blog’s theme. Sharing what you know and where you get your resources from will be well-received by your readers. They will eventually thank you for sharing.

So there you have it, a list of tips to get you writing thought-provoking blog posts that your readers will be drawn to leave comments on. Blog often and regularly and you will surely keep your subscribers glued to your blog.

Google Adsense Publishing Unrelevant Links On Pages

January 27th, 2010

Today I was browsing a blog related to home based business and SEO. The blog is publishing google adsense ads with text links to ads that should be relevant to the website and page I am browsing.

Google adsense showed following text links:

Inbound Links
Building Links
Duplicate Content Checker
Local Jobs
Part Time Job Opportunities

When I clicked on the “building links” link I prepared myself to see some ads regarding building links in terms of “link building” but what I got instead was a page full of construction and property links:

Adsense ads

Adsense ads

While I release that “building links” is probably a terminology from the construction and property industry, I still wonder why it was suggested to me on a website related to SEO and internet marketing.

The funny thing is, when searching for “building links” in google, you get 3 ads and 8 out of 10 results ONLY related to the SEO and internet marketing industry:

Google search results

Google search results

In conclusion, a software worth millions could and should do a bit better in terms of providing consistent and relevant links.

After all, isn’t it google who wants us to link to relevant resources from our websites, related to our page content, in order to improve the visitor browsing experience on our website?

Effective Link Building Tips For More Website Traffic

January 25th, 2010

Whether we website owners like it or not, building quality links is hard and time consuming but effective method (that we can influence) to get our websites on to Google’s main index page. Building links is a tried and tested way that will guarantee that you earn favor in the eyes of the major search engines. So it is understandable why you would want to build not only a continually growing number of links as quickly as you can. Quickly means not 1000s of links in a day (which may look unnatural to search engines, unless you are twitter ;) ) but surely you need to get new links everyday to your website in order to show some momentum and freshness to search engines. If you do not get any new links from all kinds of sources on a frequent basis, your website, product or presentation just may not be “hip” enough.

If you are a newbie to link building, here are eight helpful tips and suggestions to make you more knowledgeable on how to build links FAST.

1. Take blogging to its promotional level. Creating a blog for the sole purpose of acquiring links is an effective idea. Simply set up a blog using any of the popular blogging packages available on the Internet and then ask other blog owners in your range of blog interest or topic to give you backlinks related to your blog site’s content.  Social networking websites can also allow you to interconnect with others as well as link to your personal blog.

2. Your website will never go far if its content is left unchanged for weeks on end. Update! Add new pages to your website regularly and look for links for each page. The same goes for your blog and each time you add new content, send a ping to the search engine to notify its bots to come crawl over your website. Use your Twitter account to announce new content, too, but don’t forget to include a linkback that leads back to your site.

3. If you have ever heard of article marketing and its benefits, now is the time to use it. Write unique, relevant and useful articles with a link to your website in each of their resource boxes and then submit them to article databases. Just be sure that your articles are free from grammar and typographical error.

4. Include links in your online signature and then get involved in forums and comment on blogs in a helpful way. You’ll see that people will soon ask to get linked to you.

5. Video marketing is the modern, visual way to build links. Create relevant, appealing videos, and post them on free video hosting websites like YouTube along with links to your sites.

6. Press releases can be useful in encouraging people to take interest in your blog or website. Various media sources will snap up your press releases and help you get linkbacks quick.

7. Post a shout out on your blog that tells your readers that you’d really appreciate it if they link to you since it will help your site be more widely read. A little praise goes a long way.

Idea No. 1
RSS is not a pointless widget! It’s there for a reason so use it! Keep your syndication feed on your blog and make it as noticeable as possible for users to subscribe. Also submit it to as many RSS aggregators as possible.

Idea No. 2
Social bookmarking services are all the rage so jump on the bandwagon. Delicious, Reddit, Mixx, Technorati, etc. – set up an account with these social bookmarking providers and vote on your fellow members’ submissions to be active in the blogosphere. Use onlywire.com to automate the process and submit to multiple social bookmarking services in bulk.

Idea No. 3
Believe me, blog directories help, big-time. Submit your blog to Blogcatalog or other blog directories to put your blog alongside other popular ones. Then make friends who share the same interests and discuss with them in groups which you are joining too. In these discussions, you will also get your ideas for future blog posts.

Idea No. 4
Forums are for your benefit so participate in them as much as possible, so long as they are relevant to your blog’s main theme. Your forum signature will promote your blog since it can draw interested visitors to your site. Just a reminder though: Read each forum’s rules and regulations before posting there or else risk being called a violator.

Idea No. 5
Schmoozing with your fellow bloggers (preferably those who share the same blog topic with you) has tons of benefits. Build relationships with them through simple emails, substantial comments, etc. and you will get the opportunity to exchange links as well as ideas.

Idea No. 6
Be a guest writer on other blogs. Ask permission from the blog owner first, of course. Guest-blogging is another great way to build reputation, credibility and relationships. The more credible you seem, the more people will see you as a reliable authority on your blog’s market.

Idea No. 7
Encourage backlinking by writing about another blogger’s post and giving them credit plus a link to that post. Let the blogger know you have done this. That blogger will be appreciative and an exchange of links can occur. It is another form of building good relationships with your fellow bloggers.

Idea No. 8
Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. – these social networking websites will bring you more blog traffic if you sign up with them. You widen your circle as well as develop a community around your blog. However, it is best that you target your audience with this one, to reap the full benefits.

Idea No. 9
When writing your blog, you have to be definite about your commitment and the aims you wish to achieve by writing a blog. Figure out your goals, your targeted reading audience and degree of commitment so as to formulate the best posts you can possibly create.

Idea No. 10
The layout of your blog should be in line with your blog’s theme so that the overall impact will be both attractive and functional. Its format, the size of the images, etc. should all be carefully considered for easy navigation. A site that is user friendly will definitely win the heart of the visitor aside from useful, interesting content.

5 Useful Sources For Traffic And Backlinks To Your Website

January 19th, 2010

Websites need people to visit them to make profits. That is why merchants are all in a rush to find and implement ways to get more and more people to go to their sites. In relation to this, having numerous, valuable backlinks is an essential element in generating more online traffic for a website. This is because backlinks are what search engines use as a major basis to decide where a website will rank on a search results page. More backlinks mean a higher search results page ranking. Higher page ranking with search engines means that a website will have more traffic directed to it. That traffic, in turn, translates into lucrative profits for the website owner.

Creating more backlinks is indeed highly beneficial to your website which is why you should try to learn how to apply certain techniques and try out some tips which can help you get more backlinks in less time. Here are a few examples of what you should know about acquiring backlinks:

1. Make social bookmarking work for you. Build backlinks by regularly submitting any new content on your site or blog to social bookmarking websites such as StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg and Delicious. These websites have high traffic and high page rank so these can be of potentially good help to you. Use free services like onlywire.com to bulk bookmark and save time.

2. Actively participate in at least 2 or 3 online forums whose topics are related to the theme of your website. Use your signature to include a link to your website. If you make it a point to post stuff on these forums every week, people just might notice how authoritative you are on the topic being discussed and take a look at your site to seek more information.

3. Frequently visit various good-quality blogs to leave behind relevant comments, again providing a link back to your site. Do this a few times each week, making interesting and meaningful comments that will catch the attention of other people who are reading.

4. Use Google to look websites that have similar topics to your website and then ask the top-ranking ones via email if they would like to exchange links with you and/or allow you to be gust writer on their website. It doesn’t hurt to attempt to connect with websites that have the same topics such as you and being gutsy definitely pays off.

5. Submit articles to blogs in your niche that accept posts from guest authors. Article marketing will always be a solid way to build more links back to your website.

Concentrate on backlinks and you will have a steady flow of traffic to your site. If you pair it with writing articles with original content and submitting them to article directories, you will have twice the success. Apply these tactics I have shared with you on a constant basis and see the difference soon!

Submitting Unique Content Vs. Duplicate Content To Multiple Websites

January 18th, 2010

When it comes to maximizing article marketing to the fullest, there has been a recent debate on original content versus duplicate content. Those who have been in the Internet marketing game for quite some time now will probably have already grown used to the common practice in article marketing wherein one particularly well-written quality article is submitted to hundreds and even thousands of article directories. However, there is surge in search engines being able to readily differentiate duplicate content no matter how many times it has been submitted to various article databases. Once spotted, an article that has many duplicated copies in other place on the Internet can only be counted as one link, which defeats the purpose of propagating articles in the first place. This is because the search engine decides on the most valuable authority site (or sites) the article appears on and neglects the rest. You can convince yourself by searching for exact article titles in the database. Even though the article may have been submitted to hundreds of sites, only a few show up in search engine results. This makes sense, since why would you want the exact same content to appear 100 times in your results?

As a website owner, you must constantly aim to get your backlinks included in Google’s main index so that you do not fall behind and end up on its supplemental results pages. This is of absolute importance should you wish your website to succeed. Therefore, online marketing strategies such as article marketing must be done with dedication and patience in the right way so as to achieve that aim. You must know what it takes for articles and the links that they carry to serve you best in promoting your website.

Let’s talk about some of the things you need to know when it comes to content.

There is much more wisdom in altering your articles in some way or another before submitting them to multiple article directories. This heightens the possibility of you being included in search engine indexes as well as garnering bigger rankings in their indexes simply because they will count as individual articles and not duplicated copies of just one. If you have no choice but to post duplicate content, submit your article to your personal blog first then wait one day or two to have it indexed. Afterwards, you can distribute it to all those other article databases. This makes it possible to put the focus of Google indexing on the article that is on your site.

One helpful application to use in article marketing is Linknami’s article rewriting tool. Through this particular application, you can create dozens of high quality unique article variation. This means the tool greatly reduces the chance of search engines branding your articles as duplicated content. It saves you time and money as well.

Thanks to the article backlink strategy, articles that are counted as originals will drive more traffic to your website. The resource box at the end of each of your articles plays an important part in the article backlink strategy, since the link to your website that it contains is the key to making the strategy effective.

So the next time you have to decide on whether to just submit duplicate copies of one article or original ones instead, think twice. You might just be making the least of your online marketing efforts with duplicate content.

Viral Tweets to Set Your Twitter Account On Fire

January 14th, 2010

When we talk about something being “viral” in terms of online marketing, we refer to a blog post, report, article, e-book, or video whose viewer popularity spreads like wildfire once it appears on the Internet, much like the way a virus does. These are commonly spread through social media platforms online and among the most effective social media avenues is Twitter.

Being a marketer requires that you strive to make the best out of all the possible social media platforms available to you. With Twitter, writing the right kind of tweets can give you enough exposure to incite something viral in nature. Twitter users are outspoken in sharing their opinions which is why you should take advantage of this trend. Passing on info on Twitter doesn’t cost you a cent and all you have to do to put up a viral tweet is a superb quality product and an excitement inducing tweet.

Supposing you have a well-written informative report that you want to distribute for free, especially since it contains your affiliate links that lead back to other products or a few paragraphs which will tell your readers about a brilliant product that you want to share info about. How do you make it go viral?

In cases like this, a “call to action” is a good way to stage a viral explosion.

Do this by requesting your readers to retweet what you have posted in your tweet. Reserve some character space (e.g., use 130/140 of the character limit) for your @name to show up at the start when other people retweet it.

Use phrases such as:

-    “What is your opinion about…?”
-    “Pls check this thing out…”
-    “Help me get 15 comments on my blog post…”
-    “Which do you like better…?”

Then include a request for them to click on the website link included in your tweet.

Wit and outrageous creativity can also make a tweet grab attention like a white flag in a sea of red ones. Make wacky introductions such as “This won’t make your mother-in-law like you, but it could help you gain more online popularity…”

Still another tactic is by simply retweeting other’s tweets. Most likely they will do the same for you, out of common courtesy. The more people you get to retweet what you post, the higher the chances are that what you post will become viral.

Repeating your tweet a few times a day in consideration of the different times that people open their Twitter accounts is also a viable idea. But be careful not to come out as a spammer. Before you repeat a tweet, rephrase the tweet a little, post a few tweets in between, and then you’re set.

Using Social Media For Marketing Purposes The Right Way

January 13th, 2010

When talking about social bookmarking, we immediately think about websites such as Digg, Stumble, Delicious, etc. When one sees the word “social” attached to other terms in Internet lingo, it usually refers to a media platform that allows people to come together as an online community that takes time to share ideas, photos, songs, information, etc. which they think would be interesting to others.

However, many people have the wrong idea that such websites are only intended for self-promotion. Because of that, users have the tendency to post only content that originates from their own domain. They spare no thought about submitting articles that come from domains other than themselves. This widespread misconception is very noticeable when you click through profiles of social media network members.

In order to become a social medial expert, one must follow the golden rule in social media sharing, which is to be considerate enough to post any article from outside one’s own domain which he/she thinks may be useful and informative to others. Take time to observe the history of the higher level users of Twitter and Digg and you will find out that many of their submissions are items taken from various domains and other people’s posts which are popularly chosen by people to Stumble, Digg or Tweet about.

The following are just a few observations that I have made and wish to share to new bloggers out there. These will help them in their endeavor to leave an impression on social media sites.

1. Settle on one profile and follow through with only one identity.

Avoid the idea of owning multiple accounts that have the same IP address (which is already forbidden in many social bookmarking sites such as Stumble Upon and Digg). Once you have done this online taboo, you can bet that having more than one account on Digg or other social bookmarking websites will get your profile banned in no time.

2. Be ethical when attempting self-promotion through social media networks.

Even though self-promotion may be the number one reason why people engage in social bookmarking, do keep in mind that like any law-abiding citizen of state, an Internet denizen must also adhere to certain rules and ethics. And spamming is definitely not ethical or allowed by the rules.

Bloggers will join bookmarking networks to market their products, websites, etc. but remember that spamming is a dishonorable way of earning the ire of other members of the bookmarking networks.

Be a contributor who shares useful, interesting things and abides by the ethics of social bookmarking. Have a unique, professional identity that will let others think of you as a person who shares and not as a spammer.

How Affiliate Marketing Can Bring You Further Income

January 11th, 2010

In this day and age, web entrepreneurs have succeeded in making online shopping increasingly popular. If a website owner is selling a certain kind of product or is offering some sort of service, then it is understandable why he/she would want as many site visitors as possible. The logic is, if a website has an assured, steady flow of online traffic, the chances that the online users who click through to the site will purchase any of the site’s featured products or service will be higher. In web entrepreneurship, no matter how great or effective your product or service is, you will never achieve big sales if only a few visitors view your site. The truth is, high page rankings and steady online traffic will determine the success of your website. With regards to traffic, many website owners fail to generate a significant amount of traffic because of lack of quality, informative and pertinent site content. One solution to this problem is through joining what are called affiliate network programs.

Affiliate programs let you earn what is called ‘a passive income’ through allowing other website owners to promote whatever it is they are selling by using some space on your site. For these website owners, advertising on other people’s websites like yours saves them much money. However, before you engage in affiliate marketing, be sure that you select your advertisers with caution and prudence. To maximize the results with regards to affiliate passive income, choose advertisers whose products or services that they are selling have some sort of relation to your website’s theme. For instance, if your website is all about healthy food recipes, it would be absurd to allow adverts of lawn mower spare parts to appear on your site. Customers won’t click through to these ads and that means no money is earned from these advertisements. In contrast, if you support ads that market healthy gourmet foods or cookware, there is a bigger chance that visitors will find an interest in these. Always consider what your customers are interested in when choosing advertisers so that you will avoid wasting precious advertising space.

When it comes to fees, various affiliate programs have different rates. The well-known PPC (pay per click) programs only pay you several cents for each ad and will give you a hard time to collect your earnings since you have to arrive at a specific amount before you receive a check from them. On the other hand, if you know which affiliate programs will help you match their ads to the type of content that you have, then you will earn and receive money faster. One example of an affiliate system such as this is the one managed by Google. It pays you in bulk and saves you the trouble of thinking what relevant ads to put on your website because Google does it for you.

As with any money-making decision, weigh things carefully. Research the backgrounds of the different affiliate programs around and think about which ones offer the best deal for you. Let affiliate marketing bring you further income!

5 Link Building Tips To Increase Website Traffic

January 8th, 2010

In the Internet world, competition is high when it comes to achieving higher page rankings on search engine results and increasing one’s backlinks. Marketing methods are so numerous and diverse that it can get very confusing when deciding which ones to use to help make your website stand out from the rest. Yes, you may be currently having some success in driving traffic to your site and getting visitors thanks to search results from Google or Yahoo!, but what if you could achieve so much more than that?

Aside from the visual impact of your website, you also need to have a solid link network that grows as time progresses. In these aspects, you can make use of web design tools such as Sitegrinder and SiteGrinder 2 even if you are not at all familiar with web design.

Be meticulous and learn to proofread and spell-check effectively. This will contribute in making an informative and interesting article look more professional and authoritative, which attracts more people to link to it. Search engine bots know if your website excessively has grammatical and typographical mistakes which can threaten your success in search rankings.

Once you are done with making your site easy to navigate, adding quality content, and creating a visually appealing design, the next step to increasing your site’s popularity is through getting more external websites to link to you. Links are the top measure by which search engines rate your website. If you are still in the dark on how to start the ball rolling, here are some brief tips to send you on your away.

1. Make hot lists that will send everyone abuzz. Articles such as “How to Survive Break-Up Blues” are frequently circulated via other blogs and emails and will help persuade people to link to you.

2. Be a guest blogger in other people’s websites or blogs. Simply ask permission from the site owner to guest blog, choosing only websites that have great pagerank. Add a link to your website in your post and ask permission if you want to put more links.

3. Product reviews are another great way to attract people to link with. Companies will want to link back to websites that offer detailed, positive reviews of their products. So why not give it a try?

4. Articles that are highly useful “How To” guides on interesting topics will catch the attention of readers who find them helpful and then they will share it while giving you a backlink.

5. Publish the latest news in connection with your website’s theme. Just make sure that the news that you quote are from sources that are trustworthy and accurate. You can get back links through this method since people will never grow tired of reading interesting news.
