Guide To Increase Blog Traffic With WordPress SEO

June 1st, 2010

WordPress can be the easiest way to start blogging and is one of the most famous blogging platforma. Through your blogs, you basically build a reader base, get your opinions out, market your own business, and even make money through advertisers. But no matter how you use WordPress, in the end your main purpose is to increase traffic through readership. If you want to expand your reader base, you need to know how to employ search engine optimization (SEO) tactics. This is to ensure that your site and blog posts can be found by search engines like Google, high in search engine rankings. The following are tips to help you along the way:

1. Empower your content

Even if you want to include terms that are search engine friendly, no one will read your blog if it’s full of copied work, keyword spans or nonsense contents.  You have to engage your readers through the quality and original contents you provide.   The contents may adapt a humorous style, anecdotes, and other similar styles but the main point is to encourage readership, you have to provide your readers what they prefer.

2. Utilize relevant links

Transform the keywords that you use into relevant links that would eventually backlink to your site.  It’s as simple as saying that if you have a gardening blog, you shouldn’t have links that points your readers to sites that talk about aeronautics.

3. Indicate maximum effective service range

Don’t forget to indicate your location and the maximum area that you can reach out for your key phrases. Some businesses forget this, and would forget to state that their services are usually only available for that specific area. For example, if you have a textile factory in Chicago, you may want to add “Chicago” to some of the keywords and key phrases that you’ll use.

4. Doubling your educational website’s potential

If your website has something to do with education, be sure to get reciprocal links from .edu sites. This boosts your odds on getting tabbed on search engines, thus increasing your page ranking all the way. Some .edu sites actively look for link sponsors, so be sure to check around for them. It would be better if you know someone working for a local school or university.  You can probably talk them out on corroborating with your plan.

5. Phrases make up search entries, not just words

Switching up key terms may be a child’s play for some bloggers, but some rather neglect the fact that most people actually use phrases, not just words, for searching. Narrow down the search results by adding more words to your key phrases. For the word “space travel”, additional phrases can be used like “interstellar space travel”, “economical space travel”, “commercial space travel”, etc.

6. Promotion to invite people to an option

We never want to oversell ourselves by spamming our business name continuously, but you may still want to remind your readers that you’re open for business. Have a strong call to action through a link to your main business website at the end of your entries or posts.

7. Adaptation ensures survival

SEO rules change continuously, so always have a renewal strategy in your WordPress site in mind. Try switching phrases and techniques and don’t be afraid to try them out.   Continuously research about the hottest terms in your industry or field of knowledge.

8. Participation from users and visitors

Many popular sites and blogs allow their viewers to participate at the end of each entry. This can be in the form of posting comments, ratings, reviews and sharing options. Having these features can potentially improve the traffic of your website, which consequently leans towards higher page ranking. Some people just love to go to sites where they can actively participate.

9. Providing new and fresh content consistently

Stagnant blogs never survive in the internet. Talented writers would never get the readership they aim for if their blogs are outdated.  Provide quality contents to your site at least once or twide a week. That would keep your site fresh in the eyes of your readers.
