URL's rewrite

I would like to suggest a client who owns an online store with thousands of products to rewrite multiple URL's to make them static.

Is there a way to rewrite multiple URL's at once in order to avoid rewriting them one by one?

If there is solution to this problem, could you provide a solution for Apache, UNIX and IIS servers.
